Expert on Newcastle potentially finalising Christian Pulisic deal after confirmed news
Frank McAvennie has insisted Christian Pulisic’s chances of a January move to Newcastle United have been hampered.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former West Ham striker said “nobody” will take Pulisic whilst he is injured and he will have to wait until the summer to leave Chelsea.
On 13 January Graham Potter confirmed the 28-year-old will be out for ” a couple of months” but is optimistic he can return to the side before March.

The USA international went off injured in the 1-0 defeat to Man City on 5 January.
Last month (30 December), Football Insider revealed that Newcastle have made Pulisic one of their top targets for the January window, alongside James Maddison.
The Magpies’s recruitment team have identified Pulisic as a player that could slot straight into the starting XI and improve it.
But McAvennie has suggested there is no chance a move will happen in January.
“It [the injury] will hamper any move for this month that is for sure,” he told Football Insider.
“That zip that he used to have, that quickness of feet and quickness of passing and intelligence, that is not there at the moment.
“I remember seeing him and he was all over the place, he is not anymore.
“Nobody will take him when he is injured that is for sure.“

Pulisic has made 16 league appearances for Graham Potter’s side so far this season.
He has started just six of those outings and scored one goal and provided one assist.
