Expert suggests ‘big plus’ for Rangers after Ryan Kent latest
Alan Hutton has claimed Alfredo Morelos and Ryan Kent not leaving Rangers in January is a “big plus”.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Gers defender insisted they need players like Morelos and Kent in the dressing room and on the pitch if they are going to close the nine point gap to Celtic.
Both players are out of contract in January and yet to sign new deals, leading to growing uncertainty around their future.
As quoted by the Herald (30 January), Light Blues boss Michael Beale insisted he is not setting a deadline for the pair to commit their future to the Glasgow club.
Beale said that the arrival of Todd Cantwell and return of Ianis Hagi “eases the burden” on the side when it comes to the duo’s contracts.
Hutton insisted that the fact that they are still at Ibrox is a good sign.
“I think they are big players in terms of the dressing room and on the pitch,” he told Football Insider.
“I think the big thing at this moment in time is that they did not leave in January, so that is a big plus for him moving forward. To close the gap on Celtic at the top of the league they need those sorts of players.

“It is still up in the air in terms of will they or won’t they. We do not actually know. Yes they have got them until they end of the season and I think they have both improved. It is going to be down to the players ultimately.
“If the deal is right they will sign. If not then they are still able to leave in the summer.”
