Expert: Tottenham primed to sign Everton stars amid ‘massive’ Anthony Gordon claim

Tottenham will only move to sign some of Everton’s players if they fail to avoid relegation from the Premier League.

That is according to Spurs insider John Wenham, who regularly breaks news about the club on his Lilywhite Rose social media channels.

On 11 May, the Telegraph reported Tottenham have been keeping an eye on Everton’s relegation bid amid interest in Richarlison, Anthony Gordon and Ben Godfrey.

It is also claimed Steven Bergwijn could be used in a swap deal or one of the Toffees’ players.

Gordon has enjoyed a standout campaign, often proving the light in an otherwise poor Everton side while Richarlison and Godfrey have also regularly featured.

Wenham insists Everton won’t go down, putting a stop to any SPurs plans of raiding the Merseyside club.

“For me, Everton won’t go down so the whole idea of getting them on the cheap is moot,” Wenham told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild.

“Godfrey is an interesting one. He would count as homegrown and he is capable of playing in a couple of positions. He could be useful.

“Anthony Gordon has had a good season but obviously he is Everton through and through so if they stay up you would expect he would stay.

“That’s before you get to the massive fee it would take to get him. Richarlison is the same and he is a very frustrating player, for me.

“He would cost far too much money for what he is actually worth, it would be a massive deal again. As long as Everton stay up I can’t see this one happening.”

Everton are two points and two places above the relegation zone with two games still to play.

They face Crystal Palace on Thursday (19 May) before travelling to Arsenal on Sunday (22 May).
