Salvio, also 27, starred for Benfica this season in their title-winning campaign from out wide, proving to be just as prolific in the final third as he was creative.
Making 42 appearances, the Argentina international scored nine goals as well as turning provider a further 10 times.
That creativity is key in Spurs final third, with the likes of Son Heung-Min, Dele Alli and Christian Eriksen in need of competition as Moussa Sissoko, Erik Lamela and Georges N’Koudou fail to do so.
