Frank Lampard makes Coventry City exit decision as Rangers accelerate manager deal
Frank Lampard has enjoyed an excellent season so far with Coventry City and has led his side to the top of the Championship table.
The Sky Blues sit top of the league after nine games, with five wins and four draws during which they have scored a massive 27 goals, averaging three per game.
As a result of their fast start, Football Insider revealed on 5 September that West Ham sounded out Lampard to replace Graham Potter in what would have been a controversial move.
Instead, the Hammers opted to appoint Nuno Espirito Santo following his departure from Nottingham Forest, leaving Lampard safe in his job at Coventry.
A number of other top sides are believed to have taken note of his side’s recent form, however, leading to speculation about his long-term future at the CBS Arena.

Frank Lampard to snub Rangers in favour of Coventry stay
Reports have claimed Lampard was sounded out by Rangers as a potential replacement for Russell Martin, who was sacked following their 1-1 draw with Falkirk.
However, the boss is not interested in leaving Coventry as things stand and has no plans to pursue other opportunities away from the Championship leaders.
That is according to former Coventry coach and Man United chief scout Mick Brown, who remains very well-connected within the game, as he exclusively told Football Insider that Lampard is not interested in taking over at Rangers in their current state.
“Lampard has no intention of leaving Coventry any time soon,” he told Football Insider.
“Him walking out of there and going to Rangers would be suicide, he’d be stepping away from a really good thing he’s got going, into a disaster.
“At Coventry, they’re top of the league, the team is doing well and scoring plenty of goals.
“I’m sure if another job came up, there might be discussions at Coventry about their ambitions and where they want to go to build on their success so far.
“But the Rangers job won’t be as appealing to him as maybe it would have been in the past.

“From what I hear, he’s more than happy at Coventry, they’re flying in the league and he wants to guide them into the Premier League.
“He’s not going to put that at risk by taking a job at Rangers where it’s likely to go wrong for him.”
Since taking over at the CBS Arena in November 2024, Lampard has lead his side in 44 games and averages 1.77 sides, making clear progress for the club.
Rangers assessing alternatives to Steven Gerrard
Gerrard opted to turn down Rangers despite holding positive talks at Ibrox, leaving the club assessing a number of other other options instead.
Football Insider revealed on 6 October that Rangers had a four-man managerial shortlist at Ibrox, with Gerrard, Sean Dyche, Danny Rohl and Kevin Muscat on their radar.
Alongside Gerrard and Lampard, Dyche has also ruled himself out of the running, forcing clubs to consider options who were not on their initial list.

Football Insider exclusively revealed on 13 October that Rohl is battling an unnamed candidate for the Rangers job, as the former Sheffield Wednesday boss remains a key contender.
Meanwhile, Slaven Bilic has been linked with the manager’s job at Rangers in recent days, and is another one who could potentially rival Rohl.
