‘6 year deal please’ – Celtic fans react as first teamer announces first international call-up
Celtic supporters on Twitter have lavished Kristoffer Ajer with praise after the 19-year-old centre-back received his first call-up for the Norwegian national side.
The teenager, who has been been a stand-out performer for the Hoops since becoming a first-team regular in December, made the announcement on his personal Twitter page.
“Really proud to receive my first senior call-up for Norway. A dream come true” the young Celt said.
The news has gone down well supporters who feel that he has fully deserved the call-up, with one going as far as to dub him the “Norwegian (Paolo) Maldini”.
Here are some of the best reactions from Twitter to Ajer’s announcement:
Ajer has been a revelation for the Hoops since he replaced Jozo Simunovic in the team following the 4-0 loss to Hearts in December.
He has managed to successfully navigate a series of fixtures alongside a variety of partners, as he played alongside the likes of Simunovic, Dedryck Boyata and Jack Hendry at times.
The fact that he has managed to hold down a place in the first team and arguably become the best centre-back at the club at only 19-years-old shows that he has a massive future in the game, and supporters will hope that future is at Celtic.
