Gerrard makes bold Kane prediction after starring in Tottenham win v Burnley

Former Liverpool and England midfielder Steven Gerrard has said that Tottenham’s Harry Kane is set to be the Premier League’s top scorer for the next decade after impressing against Burnley on Saturday.

The striker netted a hat trick as Spurs saw off the Clarets 3-0 at Turf Moor, equalling the record for the most Premier League goals in a calendar year, levelling Alan Shearer’s tally of 36 strikes in as many weeks, a achievement which has stood for 22 years.

Having picked up the top flight golden boot for two successive years, Gerrard says that Kane has got another 10 years of goal scoring talent in him, and has boldly predicted that he will remain as the leading goalscorer in the top flight during that time.

He told BT Sport (23/12, 17:00): “Shearer was a freak of a goalscorer. There’s another one here.

“He’s going to be the league’s top scorer for the next 10 years. He wanted the record today and he obsessed with scoring.”

With his treble of strikes, Kane is now level at the top of the goal scoring table for the Premier League, joint with Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah on 15 goals.

The England forward has a total of 21 goals in 23 outings under his belt across all competitions this season, which includes six goals in five Champions League appearances.

He will be able to break Shearer’s record on boxing day, when Spurs play host to Southampton at Wembley.

In other Tottenham news, fans were left delighted with one of Kane’s team mates in the win over Burnley.
