Liverpool duo signed, one has 7 goals in 12: Gerrard possible Rangers XI on first day of 18/19

COMMENT

Rangers look as though they could be hiring Steven Gerrard as their next manager with it being widely reported that director of football Mark Allen has been in talks with the Liverpool legend over succeeding Graeme Murty.

The Daily Mail has reported that Gerrard, 37, could be announced as the Light Blues manager for the 2018/19 campaign as early as next week after the clubs’ chiefs met with the current Liverpool Under-18s coach.

It is understood that he is already planning to put together a backroom staff at Ibrox with Gary McAllister poised to be assistant manager.

Director of football Allen has already been reported to have kicked off the Gers’ summer transfer deals and it is possible to start piecing together just how the team may look at the start of next season.

Gerrard is a big name and will surely be able to attract players to Ibrox that would probably have given the likes of Murty, Pedro Caixinha or Mark Warburton the cold shoulder in the past and hopefully that outweighs his overall lack of managerial experience.

Here, Football Insider names the possible starting line-up that Gerrard could name on the first-day of the 2018/19 season.
