With Allen looking to sign some familiar faces in the summer with McGregor’s return, it wouldn’t be a surprise to see him go after modern day favourite Steven Davis.
Southampton could be relegated from the Premier League and the Northern Ireland international – who won three league titles and made 200 appearances for the Gers between 2008 and 2012 – will enter the final year of his contract.
The midfielder could be a very good signing and is one that Gerrard should look to help Allen make.
