West Ham fans tear into ‘absolutely horrific’ Callum Wilson as his full stats emerge from Fulham clash

West Ham United fans have fumed at striker Callum Wilson after he failed to make any kind of positive impact during their win against Fulham.

West Ham boosted their Premier League survival hopes with a 1-0 win over Fulham at Craven Cottage on Wednesday night.

A tight game was decided in the 65th minute as Crysencio Summerville pounced on a Bernd Leno mistake to sweep home and seal a vital three points for Nuno Espirito Santo’s side.

The Hammers remain in 18th place after Nottingham Forest picked up a point at Man City, but are now only below the City Ground outfit on goal difference, and just one point behind 17th-placed Spurs.

West Ham face Brentford in their next match as their focus turns to FA Cup action, and many supporters want Nuno to drop Wilson from their starting eleven.

Callum Wilson slammed after taking just 10 touches in an hour vs Fulham

Wilson only joined West Ham last summer, but looked set to leave the club in January as talk emerged of him potentially cancelling his contract at the London Stadium.

The 34-year-old did not depart, however, and has continued to feature regularly for the Hammers due to an injury to new signing Pablo.

He was trusted to start up front against Fulham on Wednesday, but seriously flattered to deceive, with just 10 touches of the ball and one big chance missed as he failed to convert from close range just before the hour mark.

Wilson also failed to win either one of his ground or aerial duels, and was substituted off just moments after his bad miss for Soungoutou Magassa.

Many West Ham fans were unhappy with his performance, as one took to X to say: “We gave you a proper contract and now you aren’t trying. Get a grip (Callum Wilson)”

Another added: “Honestly just stick Traore on up front at least he’ll give them something to worry about with his pace instead of Wilson the snail.”

While one fan said: “For someone so disappointed to not start more often, Callum Wilson really did not put himself about anywhere near enough.”

Crysencio Summerville West Ham exit looks inevitable amid current form

Summerville was the hero for the Hammers once more on Wednesday, meaning he now has seven goals in his last 10 games for the club.

He had failed to find the net this season prior to the start of that run, and has stepped up massively to be a key player as Wilson struggles.

Football Insider recently revealed that Summerville will be the first player to leave West Ham this summer if they do get relegated, which is still very much a possibility despite their improved recent form.

The Dutchman seems likely to want to depart even if they do stay up, as numerous bigger sides are sure to be keeping tabs on his progress and fine recent performances.
