‘One of the best’ – Italy icon Buffon names Tottenham star among international legends
Juventus and Italy icon Gianluigi Buffon has named Tottenham striker Harry Kane among some of the biggest names in world football as he speaks about the English forward’s talents.
The 24-year-old has been in imperious form since breaking into Spurs’ first team, netting over twenty league goals in each of the last three seasons, and is just a single goal away from extending that record to four.
With two consecutive top flight golden boot awards to his name, Kane went on to break Alan Shearer’s 22-year-old record for the most Premier League goals scored in a single year, and has finished 2017 with 56 goals for both club and country.
With a Champions League clash against Juventus set for the new year, which will pit him against goalkeeping royalty in the shape of Buffon, the Italian shot stopper says that Kane has a goal scoring talent he has seen only in some of the biggest legends in world football.
He told the Mirror: “Harry is now one of the best strikers in Europe – there is no question about that.
“As a player, you can always work on parts of your game and try to improve – but there are some things you can’t teach.
That natural goalscoring instinct is for me a talent that you are born with. I have seen over the years with Ronaldo, Cristiano Ronaldo, Inzaghi, Batistuta, they have that natural instinct that can really make goalkeepers suffer – and it’s clear Kane also has that.
“Always in my career I have wanted to test myself against the best – and now Harry Kane is one of the best.”
Kane has already netted six goals in five Champions League appearances, as well as chipping in with two assists for his team mates, and will be hoping to add to that tally when Spurs take on Juventus in the first ever clash between the two clubs.
In other Tottenham news, the club have launched a £31million swoop for a 20-year-old speed machine.
