Graham Dorrans reveals one thing that will change after Rangers appointment
Rangers midfielder Graham Dorrans has revealed new Ibrox manager Graeme Murty will no longer be known as “Murts” by the Gers players after landing the hotseat until the end of the season.
Murty was handed the reins temporarily on October 26th in the wake of Pedro Caixinha’s sacking before being confirmed as boss until the end of the season on Friday.
The 43-year-old was well-known to the players after his previous stint as caretaker as well as from his role as the club’s Under-20’s head coach.
Dorrans admitted he’ll be calling Murty “gaffer” now out of respect for the 43-year-old and the role which he has been appointed to.
“The boys got used to calling him Murts when he was involved with the youth team,” Dorrans said, as quoted by the Daily Record.
“But he’s made the step up now. He’s permanent Rangers manager and I’m pretty sure all the boys will show him the respect of calling him gaffer.
“There might be a change in dynamic between him and the players now.
“But when any new manager is appointed at a club, they’re your leader. They’re at the helm so they should get that respect right away.”
Dorrans is currently out of action after suffering an ankle injury in October and has yet to be involved in the side under Murty.
The former Norwich midfielder joined his boyhood heroes in the summer and immediately became a key player before needing surgery on an ankle injury picked up in Caixinha’s final game in charge.
Dorrans is expected to return to action early next year and will be desperate to get back involved in the side after his injury layoff.
In other Rangers news, the Ibrox faithful annihilated this defender for his performance against Kilmarnock.
