Graham Roberts believes Pochettino is a fan of attacker who he could make world class at Tottenham
By Harvey Byrne
Tottenham great Graham Roberts believes Mauricio Pochettino is a fan of Everton’s Ross Barkley and that he can become “world class” in north London.
There is a lot of speculation regarding the future of Barkley this summer with the 23-year-old entering the final year of his contract at the Merseyside club.
Tottenham have been one of the most heavily linked names to bring him in and now Roberts has shared on his personal Twitter account that he is a big fan of the Toffees ace and has told that he thinks Pochettino is too.
Barkley was once considered England’s brightest young talent after breaking into the Everton team at the beginning of the 2011-12 campaign aged just 17.
However, his stock has since dropped despite the attacker still managing a return of five goals and nine assists in 36 Premier League matches last season.
His future now remains uncertain and while a move to Tottenham could be on the cards he would have to compete with the likes of Dele Alli and Christian Eriksen for a starting role.
Additionally, Spurs will be looking to compete for the Premier League title in the next campaign, meaning that Barkley would have to be at his best if he made the switch to north London.
