Josko Gvardiol sends determined message after key win amid Man City ‘concern’

Gvardiol shared a message following the 2-0 win over Leicester, writing on Instagram: “New 3 points, now full focus on Sunday!”

Grealish, who made his first Premier League start since December in the match, responded with praise, commenting: “What a player brate.”

Other teammates, including defensive partner Ruben Dias, Nico O’Reilly and Jeremy Doku, also showed support with likes.

While the atmosphere in the squad appears positive, reports suggest there are internal concerns around Gvardiol’s development.

The Croatian has spent much of his time at the club at left-back, despite being more naturally suited to a central role in defence.

At one point, Man City fans even called for Gvardiol to be dropped due to his inconsistency. However, a strong performance alongside Dias against Leicester has helped to silence some of that criticism, particularly with O’Reilly now emerging as a viable left-back option.

Jack Grealish’s midfield switch fuels Man City revival talk

Gvardiol wasn’t the only one in a new position as Grealish also found himself in unfamiliar territory, playing centrally rather than in his usual role on the wing.

Man City fans have since urged Pep Guardiola to play Grealish in midfield more regularly, seeing it as a potential lifeline for the 29-year-old amid exit rumours.

Football Insider revealed that Man City are open to selling Grealish in the summer. But with Kevin De Bruyne confirmed to be leaving at the end of the season, the Englishman’s emergence in a new role could mark the start of a new chapter in his City career.
