Harry Kane will be over the moon as Tottenham plot to sign ‘incredible powerhouse’ reported – ex-manager

Alex McLeish has suggested Harry Kane would be over the moon if Tottenham were to sign John McGinn from Aston Villa this summer.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider’s Russell Edge, the former Scotland boss insisted the 27-year-old midfielder’s “incredible” energy would go down a storm in north London.

As reported by the Telegraph on Wednesday (18 May), Antonio Conte is considering a move for McGinn this summer as one of six new signings.

Tottenham

The Scotland international is reportedly highly thought of at Spurs.

The report claims the Lilywhites will hold internal talks over a potential raid ahead of the summer.

McLeish, who managed McGinn during his time in the Scotland job, lauded his fellow countryman’s influence both on and off the pitch.

McLeish told Football Insider’s Russell Edge: “He’s a powerhouse. I don’t want to get carried away with headlines but he could be a Dave Mackay type signing.

“I’m sure guys like Harry Kane would love to play with John McGinn. The energy of the guy is incredible.

“He’s such a good guy in the dressing room. His teammates think very highly of him.

“On the pitch, he gets about his work with his massive energy.”

McGinn picked up nine of his 44 caps for Scotland under McLeish.

The midfielder has been a standout for both club and country since making the move to Villa.

Aston Villa

He has made 146 appearances across all competitions for the Midlands giants, with 16 goals under his belt.

The Scotland star has played 35 times this term.
