Paul Robinson tips Tottenham to complete the signing of Swansea City defender Joe Rodon before Friday’s transfer deadline.

The former White Hart Lane number one, speaking exclusively to Football Insider correspondent Dylan Childs, said that the potential move for the 22-year-old “tells you a lot” about current Lilywhites centre-half Eric Dier.

The two clubs are in talks over a £15million deal which could include multiple Spurs fringe players while a cash-only and buy-to-loan-back agreement remain on the table.

When asked by Football Insider if he expected the transfer to get over the line before Friday’s 5pm deadline, Robinson said:

“That transfer tells you a lot about Eric Dier, the fact that they are looking for another centre half.

"It is a position that they have needed to strengthen in for a while.

"Joe Rodon has been touted for a move to Spurs and I think that is a move that will get pushed over the line before the deadline. He is on international duty this week but I am confident that Joe Rodon will be a Spurs player by Friday.”

Rodon earned his fourth cap for Wales last week, starting in a 3-0 loss to England at Wembley.

He has made 54 appearances for his boyhood club Swansea, 52 of which have come in the Championship.
