‘He will suffer for the rest of his life’ – Pundit makes devastating Isak-Newcastle claim

Newcastle United must allow Alexander Isak to undergo surgery following his latest devastating injury setback.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, former West Ham and Celtic striker Frank McAvennie predicted that the Magpies will give the striker injections before sanctioning surgery in the summer so that he can be available after his fresh groin issue.

The Sweden international was forced off the field in Newcastle’s 3-1 win against Aston Villa on Tuesday (30 January) and is expected to be out for several weeks.

Isak has missed eight games through injury in all competitions in his second season on Tyneside but has still managed to bag 14 goals.

McAvennie was adamant that the 24-year-old will suffer life-long pain unless he undergoes surgery as soon as possible so that he can be available within “eight weeks”.

“He’s not been at the club for long, but he’s out so often,” he told Football Insider.

“Knowing football clubs, they’ll probably give him injections to keep him fit for the next few months and then give him an operation in the summer.

“If his injuries are going to keep causing him problems, go and get it done now.

“If he’s back in eight weeks for the final run-in, then that’s what I’d do.

“Go and get it done.

“It could hurt him in the long run. Do it for the boy’s sake too because it will do him more damage in the long-term.

“You don’t want to be getting injuries like this so young and not get them sorted.

“He will suffer for the rest of his life.”
