Howe planning to axe Lascelles as Newcastle transfer priority revealed – pundit
Newcastle United manager Eddie Howe “will be considering” dropping Jamaal Lascelles for the trip to Liverpool on Thursday, according to Paul Robinson.
The former Premier League goalkeeper, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, said the 28-year-old “should not get a free place in the team” just because he is captain.
Lascelles conceded a penalty, won zero ground duels and lost possession on nine occasions during the 4-0 win at Leicester City on Sunday. (SofaScore)

This site revealed (23 November) that the Magpies are targeting multiple loan signings in the January transfer window.
A Newcastle source told Football Insider Howe’s priority is to recruit two proven centre-backs and a central midfielder.
When asked by Football Insider if Lascelles’ position in the starting XI is under pressure, Robinson said: “Lascelles is his captain, his leader.
“Nobody should get a free place in a team though, certainly not at Newcastle the way they are playing. They have got such a big job on their hands to get out of the relegation places.
“It is definitely an area Howe will look at in January.

“Howe will have done his due diligence on the players before he came in. But you only get to know them from working with them day in, day out. You do not drop your captain straight away.
“If your captain is not performing for you though, you have to be cut-throat. It’s something Howe will be considering I’m sure.”
