Huge funds to be made available – Insider shares what Rangers board have promised Gerrard

Steven Gerrard has been promised and proven “significant” funds for new signings by the Rangers board, according to a club insider.

The Four Lads Had a Dream blog, which is a very reliable source of news about the Gers and has broken some major stories in recent months, report that the summer window will be “huge” in terms of the players joining and leaving the club.

It is said that Gerrard, who has admitted he is in advanced talks to become the new Rangers manager, won’t be forced to relied on loans and free transfers.

“Steven Gerrard isn’t coming up to Glasgow to put his reputation on the line with his hands tied behind his back,” Four Lads report. “This board have promised and proven significant funds are available for the summer transfer window. This won’t be just for a ‘few loans’ or freebies.”

Football Insider verdict:

If fresh boardroom investment is indeed forthcoming – and the track record of Four Lads Had a Dream marks them out as a reliable source of information – that could explain a lot, including why Gerrard is on the verge of accepting one of British football’s most challenging posts. Some Ibrox talking heads and former players have urged the Liverpool icon to stay away from the poisoned chalice that has swallowed up Graeme Murty, Mark Warburton and Pedro Caixinha in recent times. But, the tantalising prospect of significant funds – and you can bet your life the subject has been a major talking point during negotiations between Gerrard, director of football Mark Allen and the board – is a gamechanger. It would provide a base for a greater calibre of signing than the club have been able to recruit in recent years, although Pedro wasted so much last summer when his taste for hopeless Mexicans and mediocre Portugese players demonstrated why he was the wrong man for the job.

In other Rangers news, the club have sealed two new signings and three more are in the pipeline in an ASTONISHING transfer blitz before the window even opens.
