Huge Tottenham boost as attacker reports for pre-season training

Tottenham fans have been given a huge boost this morning as Erik Lamela has reported back for pre-season training.

The news was released on the official Tottenham Twitter page, where he was pictured alongside teammates Jan Vertonghen, Vincent Janssen and Toby Alderweireld.

The accompanying Tweet read, “Reporting back… #MondayMotivation” and left Tottenham fans excited, as illustrated by the reply from fan David Harley.

This tweet comes after a report in The Mirror that claimed Lamela would miss the opening games of the new season with his hip injury.

It claimed he was due to return from injury in October, which would have seen him miss an entire year, along with the upcoming games against Chelsea, West Ham and Everton in the new Premier League campaign.

There is no word as to whether the Argentina international will be fit for the opening game of the season, and will need to work on his match fitness.

However, seeing him back at training will be a huge boost for Tottenham as Pochettino looks to go one better than his second place league finish last season.

In other Tottenham team news, Tim Sherwood believes Pochettino should sign this sparkling 16-goal PL striker ahead of the new season.
