Hutton makes ‘huge’ Barisic claim as Premier League club work on Rangers deal

Alan Hutton has admitted he would be gutted if Leeds United sign Borna Barisic from Rangers this summer.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Ibrox star admitted the lure of Elland Road and the Premier League would be “huge” for the 28-year-old.

As revealed by Football Insider on Saturday (June 12th), Leeds are setting their sights on Barisic and were set to have scouts in place to watch him against England.

However, the Rangers ace missed out on the 1-0 defeat for Croatia due to a back injury.

This site has since revealed Arsenal, Aston Villa and Wolves’ have also joined the race to sign Barisic.

Hutton insisted he would be gutted to see Barisic leave Ibrox.

However, he admitted Leeds and the Premier League would be a “huge” lure for the defender.

Hutton told Football Insider’s Russell Edge: “Leeds play attacking football the way Rangers do. They get forward, balls into the box, he obviously ticks all the boxes.

“He’s had experience at high a level, he’s a Croatia international so you know he plays at a high level.

“We’ve spoken about how Leeds are searching for a left-back and I think the draw of the Premier League is absolutely huge for any player.

“It’s one of those, as a Rangers fan I don’t want to see him go because he’s done excellently. I totally understand that Leeds are also a big team that play in the Premier League.”

Barisic still has three years left on his contract at Rangers.

He scored five goals and contributed 14 assists across all competitions as the Glasgow giants impressed both domestically and in Europe.

The Croatia star has 20 caps under his belt.
