Hutton makes ‘phenomenal’ claim after £20m Leeds deal is done
Leeds United have pulled off a “very good deal” by signing Jack Harrison for £20million-plus, according to Alan Hutton.
The former Scotland international, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, admitted he was blown away by the 24-year-old’s “phenomenal” energy levels.
Leeds confirmed last week (July 2nd) they had signed Harrison permanently after three seasons on loan at Elland Road.
A Leeds source has told Football Insider the deal, including the transfer fee, add-ons and wages, is over worth over £20million.
It is understood Harrison has been given a pay rise as part of the move.
Hutton admitted he is surprised Leeds did not trigger their option to purchase the winger sooner.
However, he insisted it looked a “very good deal” for a “key player”.
“Great decision. I just don’t understand why they didn’t do it earlier if I’m honest,” Hutton told Football Insider assistant editor Russell Edge.
“It’s a weird one, to be on loan at a club for three seasons. They obviously see something in him, he’s done well, played a lot of games.
“Goal-wise he’s done well, it was eight (goals) and eight (assists) last season. He’s just an absolute workhorse. I mean when I saw him playing against Aston Villa, wow.
“I couldn’t believe the levels of energy that he had. It was truly phenomenal so it doesn’t surprise me they’ve signed him. I think Bielsa will love him just on the fact his energy levels are through the roof.

“I think it’s a great move. He’s a key player for them, especially moving forward. They’ll be glad to get their man.
“At £20million, everything included, I think that’s a very good deal for someone who’s as key to your team as that.”
