Hutton tells Aston Villa fans what it’s really like playing against new signing Buendia
Alan Hutton has been left drooling over the “mouth-watering” potential of new Aston Villa signing Emi Buendia.
The former Villa defender, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, dropped his first-hand experience of the 24-year-old and insisted he would be an upgrade on the current squad.
Villa confirmed they had agreed a deal to sign Buendia from Norwich on Monday (7th June).
As revealed by Football Insider, Villa will pay a guaranteed transfer fee of £33million plus £5million in add-ons.
Hutton, who faced up to the Argentine twice in his career, has insisted the Villans have got a “fantastic talent” on board.
“It’s brilliant and not just because of last season,” Hutton told Football Insider’s Russell Edge.
“I’ve played against him on several occasions and you could tell that he was a fantastic talent then.
“He’s still only 24-years-of age so he’s a player I think Aston Villa would have probably looked at for a while.
“They’ll have thought he can enhance the squad, he’s not just coming in to be a squad player. He’s actually coming in and I think he’s better than what’s already there.
“He’s just had his first call up to the Argentina squad that shows you what level he’s been playing at all season. It’s definitely mouthwatering.”
Buendia scored 15 goals and contributed 17 assists to fire Norwich to the Championship title during the recently-concluded campaign.
He played 36 times during the 2019/20 Premier League season, scoring one and chipping in with seven assists.
