‘I don’t like them’ – Le Tissier predicts Tottenham, Aston Villa, Newcastle’s Premier League finish
Tottenham, Aston Villa, and Newcastle are all facing issues heading into the 2025/26 season.
That is the view of Premier League legend Matt Le Tissier, who told Football Insider exclusively that all three clubs will be pipped to a fifth-place finish by a surprise outfit.
Tottenham have strengthened their side by signing the likes Mohammed Kudus from West Ham and Mathys Tel on a permanent deal from Bayern Munich this summer.
However, the North London outfit have been hit by the losses of Son Heung-min to LAFC, whilst James Maddison suffered a devastating ACL injury.

Aston Villa, meanwhile, have had a slow transfer window due to the looming threat of further sanctions from UEFA for failing to comply with their financial regulations.
Newcastle claimed the final Champions League spot last season, but their transfer window has been hugely disappointing, as Eddie Howe’s side have missed out on target after target, and their star man Alexander Isak wants to join Liverpool.
Man United set to claim fifth-placed finish
This article contains exclusive comment from former Southampton and England striker Matt Le Tissier.
Le Tissier told Football Insider previously that he thinks Man United will be a shock fifth-placed finisher next season.
The former England and Southampton star has concerns about Tottenham, Aston Villa, and Newcastle and thinks that all three sides will fail to best Ruben Amorim‘s side.
Le Tissier told Football Insider exclusively: “There’s obviously got to be a massive improvement from Spurs, given what happened to them last season in the Premier League.

“They are playing Champions League football as well, which I think might hinder them in the Premier League campaign.
“That’s why I don’t like them.
“Aston Villa will be there or thereabouts. I think Newcastle could be, but they’ve just not really had the kind of summer transfer window that Eddie Howe might have been expecting.
“If they lose Isak, I think that is a massive blow to them.
“Aston Villa and Newcastle were challenging Man United for that fifth spot for me.”
Matt Le Tissier’s picks for top four Premier League finish
Having predicted United to claim a top-five finish, the Premier League icon also made predictions for what the top-four will look like at the end of the 2025/26 season.
Le Tissier told Football Insider that if Liverpool signs Isak, Arne Slot’s side will win a second consecutive title.

The former Southampton striker tipped Man City to finish as runners-up as he just doesn’t see “how they can be that bad again”.
Rounding out Le Tissier’s picks for the top four are Arsenal in third and Chelsea in fourth, with the latter potentially at risk after a long Club World Cup campaign.
