‘I want that here’ – Rangers new signing shares his goals at the club
By Matt Bullin
Rangers new signing Bruno Alves has reiterated how pleased he is to have signed for the Glasgow giants.
The 35-year-old centre-back became Gers manager Pedro Caixinha’s first signing of the summer when he arrived from Cagliari in June.
He has since been followed through the doors at Ibrox by Carlos Pena, Eduardo Herrera, Fabio Cardoso, Alfredo Morelos, Daniel Candeias, Ryan Jack, Dalcio and Graham Dorrans.
Alves was not part of the Rangers side who crashed out of the Europa League after suffering defeat against Progres Niederkorn earlier this month, but he is in line to play a part in their friendly against Marseille on Saturday.
In a pre-match press conference, as quoted by the Gers official Twitter account, he spoke of passing on his experience to his young team mates.
“I am very happy to be here. I am giving my best to be ready,” he said.
“I can bring my experience and what I have learnt in football. Almost every club I have played for has won. I want that here.”
Alves was a mainstay of Cagliari’s back line last term, and he played 37 league and cup games.
He has won league titles during his time at Fenerbahce, Porto and Zenit St Petersburg, and he also made more than 100 appearances across all competitions for each club.
The 35-year-old has been capped by Portugal on 93 occasions, and he featured in three games of their 2017 Confederations Cup campaign.
