Kenny Burns: 22-year-old very likely to make permanent Rangers switch
Nottingham Forest legend Kenny Burns has expressed his regret at the departure of Jason Cummings to Rangers.
The striker has joined the Gers on-loan until the end of the season with an option to make the move permanent and former Scotland international Burns believes that the player won’t play for Forest again, and he will be moving to Ibrox.
“He’s at Ibrox until the end of the season, but Rangers have the option to buy him in the summer, so I doubt he’ll be coming back. I suspect he’s played his last game for Forest,” Burns said, as quoted by the Nottingham Post.
He then underlined the qualities he liked in Cummings as a player, which Gers fans will be excited to hear about.
“If it was up to me, I would have kept him at Forest, simply because of his energy. He’s a busy player and you need that – even if it’s coming off the bench when other players are tiring. He plays on people’s shoulders and he’s lively,” he added.
Burns holds no grudges in the player wanting to move to the Light Blues for first-team football however.
“Players want to play games, so you can’t blame him if he wanted to go elsewhere,” the former Scotland international added.
The 22-year-old Cummings joined Forest in the summer from Hibs for a fee of £990,000. He had been a huge success at the Edinburgh club, scoring 71 goals in four seasons and helping them win both the Scottish Cup and promotion back to the Scottish Premiership.
However, his move to England hasn’t worked it and he found it difficult to break into the Forest side, and only played 17 games, in which he scored four goals.
He is looking to kickstart his career at Ibrox and could make his Gers debut against non-league Fraserburgh in the Scottish Cup on Sunday.
