Ian Taylor explains what was unacceptable about Aston Villa defeat against Barnsley

By Amir Mir

Ian Taylor has stated that the all round mistakes from Aston Villa was unacceptable as they were beaten 3-1 by Barnsley in the Championship on Tuesday night.

A brace from Tom Bradshaw and an Adam Armstrong penalty helped the away team secure a deserved three points against a mistake-ridden Villa side.

The Midlands club have now lost back-to-back home games, having being unbeaten all season at home, prior to their loss against Ipswich at the weekend.

As a result, they have lost four games on the bounce and have picked up only one point since the turn of the year.

Club legend and former midfielder Taylor express his anger at the club’s performance as posted on his personal Twitter account.

“My silence said it all last night,” said Taylor. “Couldn’t believe the mistakes we made all round as a team and it just wasn’t acceptable.”

Left-back Jordan Amavi was at fault for the first goal when his trip allowed Paul Heckingbottom’s side to open the scoring.

A poor clearance from the Frenchman and poor defending from the cross allowed Bradshaw to sneak home a second with Jonathan Kodjia making an instant reply.

After the break, the mistakes continued from the home team as they failed to deal with a set-piece numerous times which led to the Tykes adding a third.

As a result, Villa are now seven points above the relegation zone but could see themselves fall further down if they fail to pick up any valuable points in the coming matches.

They take on current Championship leaders Newcastle in their next encounter when the Midlands side travel to St James Park on Monday night.
