Aston Villa were beaten 3-1 by Barnsley on Tuesday night – and fans on Twitter have slammed Jordan Amavi for his performance.
The left-back, who has played 22 Championship games for Villa this season, has now become a senior player yet fans weren’t pleased with his immature display.
The 22-year-old was at fault for the opening two goals, first giving away a penalty, then his poor clearance and failing to stop the cross which led to the second goal.
Amavi played the entire match and failed to add any defensive solidity to the team as Steve Bruce’s side suffered a fourth consecutive defeat.
Supporters believe he is too overpriced and should have been sold by the club in the summer after owner Tony Xia revealed that they rejected a £25million offer for him.
Others destroyed his display and asked why the Frenchman was on the pitch as Villa suffered back-to-back home defeats and their fourth loss in a row.
One fan slated Amavi by stating that he is a Sunday League player and no better than the loaned out defender Aly Cissokho.
Overall, the Villa Park faithful were not too pleased with Amavi’s display as many feel he is overrated and overpriced.
Here is a selection of their messages on Twitter:
Some fans love amavi 'cos of his 'loyalty' but given his performances, who would buy him. If £25 mil is true, we should've taken it #avfc

Should've accepted the £25million and sent him off to China #avfc

Can anyone tell me why Amavi was on the pitch? #avfc

Key word tonight = Baggage. Too much excess. Grealish/Adomah/Amavi & Johnstone all part of it. Not acceptable and certainly not a team #avfc

Amavi isn't better than Cissokho. No chance. No defensive ability in his game at all. Like watching a Sunday league player. #AVFC

So many before KO were praising Bruce for starting Amavi. What are you saying now? #AVFC

Amavi has played 24 games in all competitions this season, 22 of those matches have been played in the Championship, where he has helped his team secure three clean sheets.
Bruce opted to bench Amavi for the last two games whilst he played January signing duo Birkir Bjarnason and Neil Taylor as left wing-backs.
In other Aston Villa news, this attacker is overrated following the defeat against Barnsley.
