Ian Wright delivers verdict on Jannsen cameo in Tottenham win against Swansea

By Will Butcher

Arsenal fan Ian Wright applauded the cameo of Tottenham striker Vincent Janssen as he revealed they are making him jealous after their late comeback secured a 3-1 win over Swansea.

Spurs were losing 1-0 until the 88th minute, before Dele Alli, Son Heung-Min and Christian Eriksen struck to keep Spurs in touch with league leaders Chelsea.

Speaking on BBC One’s broadcast of Match of the Day on Wednesday evening, former Gunners striker Wright applauded Spurs’ “fight and determination” during their late breakthrough.

“There’s a fight and a determination to Spurs, which makes me. They need players to step up instead of Kane, and they have that in Alli with 9 in 12,” Wright said.

“Swansea did well, but Spurs kept going. Vincent Janssen held up the ball really well when he came on. Look, I thought the Burnley was a good result, but this was fantastic.”

Spurs had gone 1-0 down after former winger Wayne Routledge put Paul Clement’s side ahead, following good work from January signing Jordan Ayew on Swansea’s right flank.

However, Alli tapped in with two minutes remaining before a superb Janssen assist allowed Son Heung-Min to rush in and play the ball underneath goalkeeper Lukasz Fabianski.

The win sees Spurs stay within seven points of league leaders Chelsea, with only eight league games remaining as Antonio Conte’s side beat Man City 2-1 at Stamford Bridge.

Spurs next face Watford at White Hart Lane in Saturday’s early kick-off, as they look to keep the pressure on Chelsea with a 20th league win of the season.
