Rangers board must move fast on key decision as senior man torpedoes chances
COMMENT
Rangers manager Graeme Murty may have torpedoed his chances of landing the role on a long-term basis – but if it isn’t going to be the incumbent next season then the Ibrox board will need to move fast to get a new manager in and settled before European football kicks off next season.
With the Gers likely to be in the early stages of the Europa League, they face returning to competitive action in July and try to avoid a repeat of last year’s European shambles.
The current Gers squad is bloated with players who appear to have no future whatsoever at Ibrox and will need to look at clearing out as many as a full team worth of players before bringing in new faces.
After going out of the Europa League at the first hurdle this season, the Ibrox giants need to have a decent crack at it this season and get as far as possible and bring some more money into the club.
With a World Cup over the summer it could lead to much of the Gers’ business needing to wait until the brief window before the tournament ends and the competitive games start to bring players in so will really need to have any new manager in place within days of the end of the season or risk being behind the curve before they’ve ever really got going.
In other Rangers news, fans have demanded that the club signs this Old Firm scourge in the summer, claiming he is better than Celtic’s Olivier Ntcham.
