‘Incredible’ – Exclusive: Danny Mills astounded by attitude of ‘Absolutely superb’ Tottenham ace
EXCLUSIVE
Danny Mills has been left bowled over by the attitude and approach of Tottenham winger Heung-min Son after netting a brace against Crystal Palace on Saturday.
The former Manchester City and England defender, speaking in an exclusive interview with Football Insider assistant editor Russell Edge, says that the work ethic and willingness of the South Korean international is “incredible” and that he has got to be among the first names in the starting XI.
The 27-year-old missed the opening two games of the Premier League season through suspension but has stepped straight back into the side, scoring twice and chipping in with an assist in three appearances.
Mills says that it is the winger’s work ethic and dedication to the cause which sets him apart at Spurs, insisting he must be a dream for manager Mauricio Pochettino to work with.
“He works his socks off, which should be mandatory but isn’t always the case with footballers,” Mills told Football Insider.
“There aren’t too many faults within his game. His consistency is absolutely superb, can play in two or three positions. He has to be one of the first names on the team-sheet every week.
“You can’t see him moaning, can you? He doesn’t seem like that sort of person. Ask him to play out of position, or track back, he just sort of goes: ‘I’ll do my best.’ It’s incredible to have that sort of player within your squad.”
Son is closing in on making 200 appearances across all competitions for Tottenham, with 69 goals and 37 assists in 191 outings for the north Londoners so far.
The 83-cap ace has played in a variety of positions across the front line for Spurs, including leading the line as a centre-forward in the absence of Harry Kane.
In other Tottenham news, Football Insider can reveal that the club are lining up three Leicester City talents ahead of a prospective transfer raid.
