Insider digs at Arsenal as Tottenham handed money-can’t-buy Toure boost

Yaya Toure’s decision to work with Tottenham instead of Arsenal speaks volumes about the different standards of each club’s training facilities.

That is according to Spurs insider John Wenham, who regularly breaks news about the club on his Lilywhite Rose social media channels.

On 1 December, Sky Sports reported Toure, 38, is working alongside Spurs academy coaches Dean Rastrick and Chris Powell on an informal basis to gain experience.

The former Manchester City midfielder is not being employed by the club as he gains experience while working for his coaching badges.

Wenham insists Toure’s presence can only benefit Tottenham’s young stars.

He also speculated the reason Toure decided to work with Spurs instead of Arsenal, where his brother Kolo remains an icon.

“You can only take positives from that,” Wenham told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild.

“There will be midfielders at Tottenham, the likes of Nile John and Michael Craig, they will learn just from being in the presence of Toure.

“That’s a massive boost for them and their development, it has to be said.

“He’s a Premier League legend who has played at the highest level, he played in the Champions League final with Barcelona.

“That can only be a positive. I say this in jest but it’s worth noting he chose to work at Tottenham instead of Arsenal.

“His brother is an invincible over there. I think that says a lot about the facilities at Hotspur Way compared to London Colney.
