Insider: This is why Conte will be the new Tottenham’s manager after ‘brilliant’ source update
Antonio Conte will now take the Tottenham job after giving up on replacing Ole Gunnar Solskjaer at Man United.
That is according to Spurs insider John Wenham, who regularly breaks news about the club on his Lilywhite Rose social media channels.
Nuno’s departure was confirmed by Spurs on Monday morning.
On Monday morning, a Tottenham source told Football Insider that Conte has already been sounded out about replacing the Portuguese and it is now understood the deal to bring Conte to Spurs is “very close”.
This site understands advanced talks are taking place today with Tottenham confident of confirming the move.
Fabio Paratici is ready to offer a lucrative three-year contract to the former Premier League-winning manager.
Wenham predicts Conte would be open to taking over at Tottenham and claims he could galvanise the club’s supporters.
“I think Conte was waiting for the Man United job,” Wenham told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild.
“I think that they are looking like they will stick with Ole has made his mind up.
“I suspect he snubbed Tottenham in the summer with the hope that Ole would be gone in a few months.
“To me, it seems like he’s itching to get back into the game and back into the Premier League. Hearing these reports is brilliant.
“He knows London from his time with Chelsea. He will also come in and demand respect and performances from his players.
“He’s an elite-level manager and someone I’m really excited about. Do I think it will come off, there are no guarantees.

“Conte would get everyone onside, it’s the right appointment for me.
“Let’s see if it happens.”
