‘I’ve seen his interviews, makes you want to sign him’-Exclusive: Bruce wowed by Celtic livewire

Alex Bruce admits he would want to sign Celtic youngster Jeremie Frimpong for his “infectious” attitude alone as the Bhoys prepare a new and improved contract deal.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider assistant editor Russell Edge, the former Kilmarnock and Northern Ireland defender admits he has been hugely impressed by what he has seen from the 19-year-old both on and off the pitch.

As revealed by Football Insider, Celtic are preparing a lucrative new contract offer for the right-back after his meteoric rise through the ranks since signing last summer.

The youngster, who signed from Manchester City, was originally signed as one for the future but has established himself as a first-team regular under Neil Lennon.

Bruce admits that Frimpong has caught the eye not only with his performances but also with his interviews and says he wants to see the Dutch starlet do well.

Bruce told Football Insider: “He’s an exciting player, isn’t he? He’s really infectious and a funny lad, he’s a breath of fresh air.

“I’ve seen a few of his interviews, it makes you want to sign him just because of the way he is as a lad, his big smile and the way he goes about his business, enjoys his football.

“He’s done great and when you see someone with an appetite and attitude like him, you want them to do well.”

Frimpong has played 19 times for the senior side at Parkhead this season, with two goals and three assists to his name.

He leapt ahead of loanee Moritz Bauer in the pecking order this season and has battled it out with Hatem Abd Elhamed for a place in the starting XI.

In other Celtic news, Alan Hutton has suggested Odsonne Edouard could remain for one more season after a major development.
