Jack Grealish and Declan Rice respond to James Maddison’s passionate message to Tottenham fans

James Maddison shared an upbeat message with fans as celebrations continued following Tottenham’s Europa League triumph.

Spurs players returned from Bilbao to a heroes’ welcome on Friday (23 May), joining supporters for an open-top bus parade to mark their first trophy in 17 years.

Although Maddison missed the final through injury, he joined his teammates on the pitch to soak in the post-match celebrations and has kept the party going online ever since.

Maddison even found himself in a social media clash with John Terry, after stepping onto the pitch in full kit despite not playing—drawing comparisons to the Chelsea legend’s infamous appearance after the 2012 Champions League final.

Now, after a week that will live long in the memory for Spurs fans and players alike, Maddison had one more message to share with the supporters.

Maddison posted a series of photos on Instagram from Tottenham’s victory parade in North London, which saw thousands of fans line the streets in celebration. He captioned a post simply: “Helluva day today.”

Plenty of Premier League stars reacted to the post, with the likes of Man City’s Jack Grealish, Real Madrid’s Jude Bellingham, and even Arsenal’s Declan Rice liking the post.

Spurs teammates including Dominic Solanke, Djed Spence, and Son Heung-Min also showed their support by liking the update.

Missing the Europa League final was a bitter blow for the 28-year-old, who had played a pivotal role throughout the competition, scoring in both the previous knockout rounds. His absence was felt, but his presence at the celebrations made it clear how much the win meant to him and the squad.

Prior to the final, some Spurs fans voiced concerns over Maddison’s recurring injury issues, with a few even questioning whether the club should move him on.

But the mood has shifted significantly in North London following the club’s European triumph and the party looks set to continue.

Despite leading Tottenham to their first major European trophy in four decades, Ange Postecoglou’s future remains uncertain.

Football Insider revealed on 2 May that Postecoglou’s future is on a knife’s edge, with sections of the fanbase wanting him to be sacked and a board that has so far stood by him.

Spurs have endured a poor domestic campaign, currently sitting 17th in the Premier League and suffering 25 defeats across all competitions.

However, their Europa League win has cast a different light on the season and Tottenham are now 50/50 on whether to part ways with Postecoglou, even after his historic achievement in Europe.

The manager has certainly silenced many of his critics, at least for now, but whether he remains in charge for next season remains to be seen.
