‘I’d sack him for that’ – Rangers fans want Murty axed after press conference blunder
Rangers manager Graeme Murty has claimed that he doesn’t think there was any intent in the challenge that left Ryan Jack needing to be stretchered off during the Gers 2-0 win over Motherwell – and fans are absolutely furious with their new manager’s blunder.
Jack is serious doubt for Saturday’s Old Firm clash with Celtic after the horror tackle by Well’s Cedric Kipre but the Gers boss insists there was no malice involved from the Frenchman.
“I did not think Kipre stamped and pushed down,” Murty said, as quoted by the club’s official Twitter account.
“He didn’t put any pressure through the challenge, there was a coming together that was a nasty one but, regarding intent, I’m not sure there was any there”
Jack needed lengthy treatment on the pitch before eventually being carried off and replaced by 18-year-old Jamie Barjonas.
The former Aberdeen captain has still to be fully assessed by Rangers’ medical staff to determine the full extent of his injuries.
Fans couldn’t get their head around Murty’s comment with some calling for him to be axed by the board – for the second time this week.
Here are some of their comments on social media:
