Jadon Sancho backed to complete shock Man United U-turn – pundit

Jadon Sancho may still have a future at Manchester United if Erik ten Hag leaves the club this summer.

Speaking on the latest edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, former Tottenham and England goalkeeper Paul Robinson revealed a new manager at Old Trafford will likely want to keep Sancho following his form on loan at Dortmund.

The England international put in an impressive performance as the Bundesliga side secured a 1-0 victory over PSG in the first leg of their Champions League semi-final on 1 May.

The 24-year-old, whose Man United contract doesn’t expire until 2026, returned to the German club on loan in the January transfer window following his public fallout with Ten Hag at the start of this season.

Reports have suggested the Red Devils are now willing to sell the majority of their first-team players this summer as Sir Jim Ratcliffe looks to overhaul the squad, leaving Sancho’s future in doubt.

Jadon Sancho could have future at Man United

Robinson admitted the winger looked like a different player for Dortmund against PSG in comparison to what he’s shown during his time at Man United.

“I said weeks ago this might not be the end of Sancho’s career at Manchester United,” he told the Inside Track podcast.

“We’ve seen the statement come out from the club about the players that are for sale. There are only three players who are not for sale – Hojlund, Garnarcho and Mainoo.

“With that noise coming out of Man United, it would suggest there is going to be a new manager there next season. I can’t see how Erik ten Hag is there at the start of next year.

“If a new manager comes in and Sancho performs like he did against PSG for Dortmund, Man United’s manager is going to want him back. They paid £70million for him for a reason.

Sir Jim Ratcliffe is making more unpopular decisions at Man United

“He had more dribbles in the first half against PSG than he did in the last 12 months of his career at Man United, which is almost incredible.

“You saw a different player, someone with the weight of the world lifted off his shoulders, a little bit of swagger, arrogance and a hell of a lot of quality. He looks like the player they initially paid £70million for.

“I don’t think it’s the end for Sancho at Man United. But the player may want out if the manager is still there and the opportunity isn’t there to come back.”
