Jadon Sancho sends message to Chelsea ‘brother’ with Man United career in limbo

Jadon Sancho is still looking back fondly on his time at Chelsea despite their decision to avoid signing him permanently.

Chelsea went above and beyond to stop Sancho becoming a permanent fixture at Stamford Bridge this summer, and paid a £5million penalty to renege on their obligation to buy the Manchester United loanee.

Man United sent Sancho to west London last summer on a season-long deal with an obligation of £25m to buy the former England winger, and Sancho responded with 15 goal contributions in all competitions.

Sancho’s wages proved to be a key stumbling block for Chelsea, however, and their decision to send him back to Old Trafford left Ruben Amorim with the task of determining the want-away winger’s future.

Amorim was swift to take action with Sancho one of five out-of-favour players banished from first-team training at Carrington this summer, but concrete offers for the 25-year-old have been hard to come by.

Sancho praises Cucurella after Chelsea transfer decision

Chelsea had Sancho to thanks for five goals and 10 assists across his 42 appearances last season, including an 85th-minute strike in their 4-1 victory over Real Betis in the UEFA Conference League Final.

Napoli had planned to offer Sancho a potential exit route from Old Trafford last month, but they’re yet to capitalise on Antonio Conte’s interest and the ex-Borussia Dortmund forward remains in career limbo.

Sancho’s time at Chelsea ended on a bittersweet note, but the Blues’ loanee still posted on his Instagram story to wish left-back Marc Cucurella a happy birthday after he turned 27 years old on 22 June.

Sharing an image of the pair in Chelsea’s gym, Sancho said: “Happy birthday brother!
 What a guy”.

Sancho saga shows no signs of ending at Man United

Football Insider Verdict

Amorim was quick to ostracise Sancho, Alejandro Garnacho, Antony, Tyrell Malacia and Marcus Rashford from his plans this summer, but only the latter has so far come close to a move away from Man United.

Sancho has been linked with a move to Juventus, but Paul Robinson told Football Insider that his huge wages will once again put paid to the Serie A side signing him, leaving Man United stuck in a huge bind.

Man United have a host of unwanted players on sizeable contracts to try and force out this summer, but with even a club of Chelsea‘s financial might turning down the chance to sign him, Sancho’s situation could prove to be the most difficult of all.
