James Beattie sends heartfelt message to Leeds fans following departure
By Harvey Byrne
James Beattie has sent a heartfelt message to Leeds fans on Twitter after departing the club to re-link with manager Garry Monk.
The 39-year-old former Southampton striker was a part of the Yorkshire giants’ coaching staff for just one year after joining last summer alongside Monk, who he knew from the Saints and had also worked with at Swansea.
The two senior figures worked well at Leeds and helped the club become a force once again in the Championship, achieving a seventh placed finish.
But, Monk decided to quit the club in May before taking over at Middlesbrough, while new Leeds appointment Thomas Christiansen is now looking to bring in his own coaching staff.
This saw Beattie depart Elland Road, who has since been confirmed as part of the new coaching set-up at Middlesbrough and on Thursday he sent a passionate message to supporters via his personal Twitter account.
Beattie was often hailed last season for his work with star forward Chris Wood, who managed to top the Championship goal scoring charts with 27 strikes from 44 league matches.
He will now be hoping to have similar success with Middlesbrough, but he could find a frosty reception awaiting himself and Monk upon their return to Elland Road next season.
In other Leeds news, the Whites are firm favourites to sign this 21-year-old Premier League striker.
