Joao Cancelo: Man City defender in advanced talks with new club
Al Hilal are in advanced talks to sign Man City defender Joao Cancelo, sources have told Football Insider.
The Saudi Arabian club are working on a £21m deal for the 30-year-old full-back, which would be the second-highest transfer fee paid by a Saudi Pro League club this summer.
Man City have told Cancelo he is free to find a new club this week as he does not feature in Pep Guardiola’s plans.
The Portugal international has not played for City since the 2022-23 season after loan spells with Bayern Munich and Barcelona.
Football Insider revealed (August 20) that Man City are expected to let Joao Cancelo leave before the end of the month.
Joao Cancelo set to swap Man City for Saudi Arabia
Cancelo joined the Premier League giants in 2019 and has since made 154 appearances across all competitions, playing as a left-back, right-back, and further up the field.
The experienced defender spent last season on loan at Barcelona but the Spanish giants could not make the move permanent due to financial constraints.

Cancelo has been unable to work his way back into Guardiola’s setup ever since and is now set to be sold permanently.
The sale of Cancelo could prompt the Premier League champions to re-enter the transfer market following the injury of young star Oscar Bobb.
Football Insider revealed (August 19) that Guardiola’s side have set their sights on Real Madrid forward Rodrygo after an attacking injury blow.
