Joe Gomez: Robinson issues ‘big’ Liverpool prediction after source’s exit update
Aston Villa will struggle to sign Joe Gomez this summer despite his lack of game time at Liverpool.
That is the view of former Spurs and England number one Paul Robinson, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about the 24-year-old’s future at Anfield.
Gomez was handed his first Premier League start of the season on Saturday as the Reds closed the gap on league-leaders Man City with a 3-1 win over Norwich City.

The England international has fallen behind Joel Matip and Ibrahima Konate in the pecking order this season.
An Aston Villa source told Football Insider (21 February), that Gomez is Steven Gerrard’s number one priority this summer.
The centre-half has two-and-a-half years remaining on his contract on Merseyside.
When asked by Football Insider‘s Dylan Childs for his assessment of Gomez’s future, Robinson said: “I think Gomez has a long-term future at Liverpool.
“The elite teams need to have deep squads nowadays. You cannot play the same XI week in, week out.
“Players like Joe Gomez, at his age and with his ability are big assets. He can play anywhere across the backline and not many players can do that.

“To be part of a Liverpool squad competing for the Champions League and Premier League will be enough for him. There is not many players who play every week. Look at the front three, even they are rotated.
“It is about strength in depth. Klopp needs top-class players in reserve. Gomez gives him that so I think he’d be very reluctant to let him go.”
In other news, Kieran Maguire has claimed Liverpool want a ‘lucrative’ Premier League overhaul as £80million already secured.
