Joe Rodon’s time at Tottenham ‘is up’ after ‘big’ reveal – Robinson

Paul Robinson suspects Joe Rodon’s “time at Tottenham is up” despite an impressive start to his loan spell at Rennes.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former White Hart Lane number one suggested Antonio Conte is unwilling to hand the 24-year-old an opportunity in north London.

Rodon joined Rennes on a season-long loan deal at the beginning of August.

The centre-half produced a man of the match display in a 1-1 draw against Marseille on Sunday (18 September).

Speaking to Sky Sports (20 September), Rodon revealed the World Cup was a “big” driving force behind his decision to leave Spurs temporarily.

The Wales international has three years remaining on his contract in north London.

When asked by Football Insider if Rodon has a long-term future at Tottenham, Robinson said: “The manager has not given him an opportunity since he has come in.

“It is not as if there has not been the option to give him an opportunity either. That speaks volumes.

“I suspect his time at Spurs is up, so long as Conte remains in charge.

“There was times last season where Spurs had injuries but Conte chose not to use him. Conte perhaps does not fancy him or believe he fits into a back three. I cannot see him getting an opportunity while Conte is there.

“It is good to see him doing well at Rennes. I do not think that will effect his Spurs career though, I really don’t.”
