Joe Worrall: Nottingham Forest captain guilty of ‘very dangerous action’ as controversial footage analysed – Ex-Premier League referee
Joe Worrall was guilty of a “very dangerous action” as Nottingham Forest beat Leicester City 4-1 yesterday, according to Keith Hackett.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the ex-Fifa and Premier League referee analysed Worrall’s much-hailed tackle with his head at the feet of Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall towards the end of the game.
With 10 minutes to go the Forest captain launched himself to the ground as he attempted to stop a Leicester cross.
Worrall scored his side’s third goal at the City Ground as they raced into a 3-0 lead just after the half-hour mark.
His name was a surprise inclusion on the teamsheet as he broke three ribs in the 1-0 win over Millwall just over three weeks ago (15 January).
“He was at floor level,” Hackett said after analysing the footage with Football Insider correspondent Connor Whitley.
“I think it’s a very dangerous action. On this occasion he was safe but he’s put his head in a very dangerous position.
“The downside is it could have resulted in boot coming into contact.
“In football, there is passion and endeavour and everything that goes with it. People will say it’s great and wonderful but in reality sometimes you can say is that the right thing to do?
“In my view, it’s a very dangerous action by the player and hopefully the coaching staff will have a word in his ear.”

Nottinghamshire-born Worrall has now played 160 times for his boyhood club.
His header against local rivals Leicester was just his third game for the Reds.
