Jordan Henderson, Omari Hutchinson react to Jobe Bellingham’s ‘important’ message

Jordan Henderson and Omari Hutchinson were among those to react to a new update from Jobe Bellingham as his strong start to life at Borussia Dortmund continues.

Last season, Bellingham helped Sunderland to promotion back to the Premier League, following victory over Sheffield United in the Championship play-off final.

However, the midfielder will not be a part of the Black Cats’ return to the top-flight of English football, having moved on quickly in the transfer window.

Earlier this month, Bellingham joined Dortmund from Sunderland on a five-year deal until the summer of 2030, and he is already making an impact for his club.

Borussia Dortmund progressing at Club World Cup

With the Bundesliga side competing in the Club World Cup in America this summer, the 19-year-old has quickly got a taste of competitive football with Niko Kovac’s side.

Bellingham scored his first goal for Dortmund in their 4-3 win over Mamelodi Sundowns on his first start for the club earlier in the tournament.

On Wednesday (25 June), he then followed that up by registering his first assist for his new side, teeing up Daniel Svensson to score the only goal of the game in a 1-0 win over Ulsan HD.

That victory ensured Dortmund finished top of their group at the tournament, and will now face Mexican side Monterrey in the round of 16.

Taking to his Instagram to reflect on that progress, Bellingham wrote: “Important win with many improvements. First assist and through to the knockouts. Heja BVB!”

In response, fellow former Sunderland midfielder Henderson and Ipswich winger Hutchinson were among those to like the post.

The teenager’s older brother Jude did the same, as did the likes of Arsenal left-back Myles Lewis-Skelly, Crystal Palace striker Eddie Nketiah and several Sunderland stars including Trai Hume and Dan Ballard.

Football Insider Verdict

It will be a relief for the midfielder that he has made an instant impression after completing his move to his new side.

Given the inevitable comparisons with his older brother, there will have been pressure on the younger Bellingham to produce some similar contributions for Dortmund.

So far he is doing that, even if the challenges are likely to get harder when the Bundesliga campaign kicks off in August.

Even so, this does at least give him some confidence and momentum to carry into the new season, and the scrutiny will not be as intense as if he had not played a part in this tournament.

With that in mind, Bellingham surely has to considerable his start to life with Dortmund so far as a welcome success.
