Jurgen Klopp rages as he shoves coach in Liverpool dugout bust-up

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp forcibly shoved goalkeeping coach John Achterberg as he lost his rag during the loss to Everton on Wednesday (24 April).

The Reds manager tore into his own staff member in the dugout at Goodison Park during the 2-0 defeat, in what appeared to be a bid to stop him from complaining to the fourth official.

Footage from Sky Sports at the end of the half-term break showed Klopp pushing Achterberg, who is known as a temperamental matchday figure in his own right, in the first half of Liverpool’s shattering setback.

There appeared to be no ill feelings between the pair as Achterberg took his place on the Liverpool bench as normal in the second period of the match.

Defensive ace Jarrad Branthwaite and star striker Dominic Calvert-Lewin scored in either half for the hosts.

Klopp and his staff argued with the officials throughout the match regarding their readiness to hand the Toffees free-kicks.

The Liverpool manager watched on in disbelief as his title-challenging side lost to their relegation-threatened rivals.

The visitors dominated possession at Goodison Park, but the home side were more clinical in the final third.

The defeat leaves Liverpool sitting second in the Premier League table, three points behind leaders Arsenal and with a worse goal difference.

Manchester City meanwhile can overtake the Reds when they take on Brighton on Thursday (25 April), with the Amex hosting that encounter.

Pep Guardiola’s side also have another game in hand over the Merseyside club and Arsenal, and will go two points clear at the top if they win them both.
