Kent and Rangers teammate tipped to U-turn on Ibrox exits after ‘great’ news – pundit

Paul Robinson has claimed Ryan Kent and Borna Barisic’s updates on potential Rangers transfers is “great” news for fans.

However, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Spurs and Leeds United goalkeeper fears that position will change if Aston Villa come calling at the end of the season.

As quoted by the Daily Record (1 December), Kent, 25, told Sky Sports last week that his “immediate future” is at Ibrox.

The ex-Liverpool attacker added that he wants to achieve more success with the Gers, having helped the club win the Scottish Premiership last season.

According to the Daily Star, as reported by the Glasgow Times (5 December), Barisic, 29, is also set to reject Premier League interest to stay in Glasgow.

Both players have been linked with a move to Villa Park, where their previous manager Steven Gerrard moved last month.

When asked by Football Insider for his assessment of the news, Robinson said: “They are going to be linked with Villa because of their relationship with the previous manager.

“It’s a great statement to hear from the fans’ point of view but that could change at the end of the season. You can read into that what you will.

“If Aston Villa come calling at the end of the season it may be too big an ask for them, especially if they successfully defend their title. They may want a new challenge.

“You can see the pull of the Premier League. That is why Gerrard went. That move shows the difference between the Premier League and Scottish Premiership.”
