Kieran Maguire impressed by ‘good news for Arsenal’ after big update

Arsenal will continue to increase their revenue and can catch up to the likes of Man City and Man United after their ‘impressive’ 2022-23 results.

That is the view of finance expert Kieran Maguire, who exclusively told Football Insider that the Gunners will experience a ‘significant’ jump in revenue next season after progressing in the Champions League.

Arsenal published their 2022-23 accounts on Monday (26 February) announcing a total revenue of £465million – an increase of £95million from 2021-22.

The North London side still suffered a loss of £52million but were able to increase all of their income streams including £100million earned through matchday revenue.

They still trail behind City – who broke the Premier League record with revenue of £713milion after their treble-winning campaign in 2022-23.

Arsenal finances set to soar next season after £465m news

Maguire believes Arsenal are in a position to close the £250million gap to Pep Guardiola’s side thanks to their participation in the Champions League and their club infrastructure.

If we take a look at these figures through the lens of revenue then it is good news for Arsenal,” Maguire told Football Insider’s Sean Fisher.

It’s especially impressive as it was done in a year without Champions League football.

So therefore they do have opportunities for significant growth by competing in Europe this season and under the new Swiss model next year.

Manchester City’s revenue was above £700million, Manchester United’s was well above £600million and Liverpool just under £600million so they’re still behind but they have the benefits of being in London with a big stadium.

So the infrastructure is there to take this further.
