Kieran Maguire: Liverpool ‘anxious’ about Mohamed Salah quitting after ‘astonishing’ £600m reveal
Liverpool will be ‘anxious’ about losing Mohamed Salah as he is valuable to the club both on and off the pitch.
That is the view of finance expert Kieran Maguire, who spoke exclusively to Football Insider about Salah’s marketability and commercial value to the Merseyside club.
As reported by Football Insider, Saudi Arabian club Al-Ittihad are willing to pay an ‘astonishing’ £600million to make Salah the world’s highest-paid player.
Liverpool are reluctant to sell the 31-year-old winger with such little time left in the transfer window to find a replacement.
The Egyptian star has grown to become known as one of the best players in the world and is especially adored in his home nation and across Africa.
Maguire explains that Salah is a brilliant footballer, but also an extremely marketable asset for a football club due to his popularity and reputation.
“Mohamed Salah is first and foremost a superb footballer as demonstrated by his contribution to Liverpool’s win over Newcastle on the weekend,” Maguire told Football Insider’s Sean Fisher.
“He is very marketable as a family-friendly guy, an ambassador for the club and also for his faith.
“That has certainly helped Liverpool when it comes to expanding their already large fanbase in Muslim-based countries.

“It has also helped them to sign further commercial deals with organisations that would like to align themselves with Salah.
“They will be anxious to keep him this summer and they will be working hard behind the scenes to make sure he stays for the remainder of his contract.“
