Kieran Maguire: Liverpool can seal ‘bargain’ Salah deal as £150m windfall expected
Liverpool would be getting “a bargain” if Mohamed Salah penned a new contract worth £400,000-a-week, according to Kieran Maguire.
The finance expert, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, said the 29-year-old’s wages will likely only be “15 per cent” of Liverpool’s expected Champions League revenue this season.
Salah is weeks away from the final 18 months of his contract at Anfield.

A Reds source told Football Insider (11 December) there is a growing belief that a deal can be done following recent talks.
The Egyptian star scored an incredible seven goals in six Champions League games as Jurgen Klopp’s side collected maximum points from Group B.
Maguire claimed Liverpool could earn £150million from Europe’s elite competition this season if their form continues.
“Liverpool are looking magnificent this season,” he told Football Insider‘s Dylan Childs.
“If they pay Salah £400,000-a-week it will cost them £20million-a-season.
“If they carry on with their phenomenal form in the Champions League they could make £150million from that competition this season. Salah’s salary would be 15 per cent of that and that is ignoring the Premier League.
“I do not see the amount Salah is asking for being a problem. You always need to look at your marginal costs when budgeting. If it costs Liverpool an extra £10million-a-season to keep Salah for an extra three years, that is a bargain.
“To replace him would require a lot of investment. In all honesty, I don’t think he is replaceable. A player of his ilk would cost £80-100million and that player would demand wages of at least £300,000-a-week so they will be better coming to an agreement.

“He is playing magnificently. He has a good relationship with the fans. There is no unknowns here.
“Look at Chelsea, they have spent a lot of money on strikers and they have been hit and miss. Pay him.”
