Kieran Maguire makes ‘huge’ Newcastle claim after landmark new deal agreed

Newcastle United can set new benchmarks for commercial partnerships once they qualify for European competition.

That is the view of finance expert Kieran Maguire, who spoke exclusively to Football Insider about Newcastle’s commercial valuation once they establish themselves as European competitors.

The Tyneside club are on the brink of qualifying for Europe this season, with Eddie Howe’s side currently sat fifth in the table – two points off fourth-placed Tottenham.

Football Insider sources revealed on Monday (13 March) that Newcastle are expected to retain their £7.5million deal with Noon for the 2023/24 season.

The shirt sleeve partnership with the Public Investment Fund-owned e-commerce platform has been the most lucrative deal signed at the club since the Saudi Arabia-backed takeover.

But Maguire believes Newcastle will see the value of the deal take a “huge jump” if Newcastle can qualify for European competition.

There will no doubt have been step-ups if there was a multi-year deal signed between Newcastle United and Noon,” Maguire told Football Insider.

“Success and European qualification usually see these kinds of deals jump in valuation anyway.

But taking an iterative approach with a rolling one-year deal can be a great benefit to the club as nobody has a real idea of what is meant by fair value.

“It is crucial for Newcastle to qualify for European competition as then there will inevitably be a huge jump in terms of global support.

After that, they can justify a new benchmark for sponsors.
